Apple watch 2 won't add my debit card from the phone

I recently bought an apple watch series 2 and love it so far. Only issue I'm having is I can't get my debit and credit card to load to the wallet app on the watch. In the actual watch app on the phone it gives me the option to load them to the watch but when you click the verify button it just sits there trying but doesn't do anything. Is anyone else having this issue and is there a fix for it? Thank you

Apple Watch Series 2, iOS 10.0.1

Same issues as the OP with my own Wells Fargo Debit Card seamlessly working with my iPhone 7+ Wallet, but not passing the verification process to my Series 2 Apple Watch Wallet.

I found the Wells Fargo App has a settings area for adding your cards into Wallet for you (as opposed to adding the cards into Wallet directly) **with a distinction between the phone and watch**.

When I chose the phone option first I made it through the process successfully and afterwards found the status of the card simply: 'Added' with the watch option no longer available... and the the main issue of not being able to the pass it along to my watch continued on.

However.. when I reversed the order and did the Watch First it successfully went through! Note that the debit card had NOT been added to the Phone's Wallet at this point, but with the watch having now successfully verified the card, I found the WF App proceeded to let me then verify it on the phone as well and suddenly everything is working as intended!! It seems totally backwards to add it to the Watch first but I guess WF had to make it messy..

TLDR:

1. Delete WF Card from phone wallet.

2. Use WF App to add Card to Apple Watch first.

3. Use WF App to add Card to iPhone second.

4. Live Long And Prosper.

PS - This is obviously a possible solution for those with a Wells Fargo Debit Card, if you are having this trouble with another bank's card then I would try to see if their app can setup the cards in both phone and watch wallet for you.

It may help to close the Watch app and restart both your iPhone and Apple Watch:

If the issue persists, I suggest that you contact your card issuer for assistance.

The card issuer approves every instance of a card being added to a device, including deciding whether or not verification is required.

It can be normal for an issuer to require this even when the same card has already been added to another device. (The process is not about checking the card details; it instead focuses on confirming to the issuer that the request to add your card to another device did come from you).

I also had similar issue and resolved by the following steps:

1. Sign out and sign in iCloud. Some folks found the issue can be resolved by this method.

The above method did not work for me, so I did the following:

1. Delete all credit/debit cards currently in the Wallet in the iPhone. Mine is iPhone 6.

2. Reset your Apple Watch 2 to factory setting. (It is much easier than resetting an iPhone lol)

3. Repair your Apple Watch 2 with your iPhone again. Choose "Reset" instead of "Restore from backup".

4. Now open your "Watch" app on the iPhone, and start adding new credit/debet card to it. It should pop up a dialog asking if you want to add this to your watch. Viola!

Good luck!
